Ding Liren and D Gukesh remain level on 2.5 points each after playing out back-to-back draws in the World Chess Championship in Singapore on Friday and Saturday, and will be eager to break the deadlock and move into the lead ahead of the second ‘Rest Day’ when they meet in Game 6 on Sunday. Gukesh, playing with white peices, had managed to hold reigning champion Ding to a draw hard-fought draw in the fifth game on Saturday after handing the advantage to the Chinese Grandmaster at one point with a pawn-bishop exchange.

The 18-year-old Indian GM has now registered a victory, a defeat as well as a draw playing with white pieces so far in the World Championship. While Ding had seized the lead in Game 1 with a victory, Gukesh would level the scores in style with a victory in Game 3.
Games 2, 4 and 5 have ended in a stalemate so far, with the two players shaking hands on Saturday as soon as they completed their 40th moves.
