Manchester United will reportedly retain head coach Ruben Amorim for next season even if they lose the Europa League final and miss out on a Champions League spot. The club is hoping to back him in the summer transfer window, where he will look to bring in fresh faces to turn things around.

Manchester United have decided to stick with head coach Ruben Amorim for next season despite a terrible campaign in the Premier League this year. It is being reported that even if the team loses the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur and misses out on a Champions League spot, Amorim will continue as manager.

Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham and were eliminated from the League Cup by Spurs. However, their run in the Europa League has given fans some hope. If United beat Tottenham in the final on 22 May, they will qualify for next season’s Champions League. It will be a huge boost for the club considering their poor EPL season.

Amorim will stay even if United lose Europa League final

The Guardian reported that the club’s board will still give Ruben Amorim a proper chance even if they lose the Europa League final as they want him to have a full transfer window to build a squad as per his needs and then see how he does.

After United lost 2-0 to West Ham on Sunday, Amorim looked very frustrated. He even hinted that he might quit if the situation doesn’t change. “I’m talking about myself, the culture of the club and the team. We need to be strong and brave this summer. If we continue like this, maybe it’s time for someone else to take my place.”

“It’s all mental. We’re no longer afraid of losing as Manchester United, and that’s very dangerous for a big club,” he added.

Amorim to target fresh talent in summer

Amorim is reportedly targeting Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and Ipswich striker Liam Delap as key signings in the summer. But to buy these players, United will need to sell some of their already existing stars. Cunha has a £62.5 million release clause, while Delap’s is £30 million.

One of the players likely to leave is Marcus Rashford. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa, who can sign him permanently for £40 million. There are other players who might also be on the list to raise funds for the transfer window.

United have had a nightmare campaign as they are currently sitting in 16th place in the EPL points table with 17 losses in 36 matches. It is their worst league record since the 1973-74 season. Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November but hasn’t been able to turn things around yet.
