Telangana tug-of-war stops Hyderabad's day-to-day life

Hyderabad: In this fight between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is Hyderabad that is suffering. The city’s normal life was paralysed on Friday due to the day-long shutdown called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee as part of their ongoing agitation for a separate state.

Shops and business establishments were closed at many places in the city. Schools and other education institutions have already declared holidays for the Dusshera festival.

With pro-Telangana employees of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) already participating in the ‘Sakala Janula Samme’(strike by all sections of people), RTC buses remained off the roads.

Police made elaborate security arrangements in view of the shutdown.

Stating that TRS and the JAC would not call for a shutdown in the near future, TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao on Thursday night appealed the people to make the shutdown a success.

Meanwhile, TRS legislator and party president K Chandrasekhara Rao’s son K T Rama Rao said a delegation including the TRS President, would go to Delhi this evening to meet the central leadership and urge them to take a early decision on separate Telangana demand.
