The forthcoming assembly elections in Punjab have come as a boon for those who love their pegs and sniffs, as political parties are freely distributing liquor and drugs to woo addicted voters.
This deadly dose is accompanied by a huge amount of unaccounted cash.
Recently, Rs 30,000 crore of unaccounted cash was seized in the state. Moreover, 11,000 litres of alcohol and 143,000 bottles were also hauled.
A worried Election Commission has approached the Narcotics Bureau to control the menace as the state is having a free run of drugs like poppy husk, opium and heroin.
In a state that has the highest number of millionaires — 266 — in the fray, the task will not be easy for the Election Commission.
