Kiran Bedi to sue Kejriwal for calling her 'opportunist', using photo without permission

Delhi BJP’s chief ministerial candidate and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi will sue AAP chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for defaming her in a picture used without her permission.

The Aam Aadmi Party had put up combination pictures of Kejriwal and Bedi suggesting that Kejriwal was honest and Bedi an opportunist. The posters were pasted at the back of auto-rickshaws in poll-bound Delhi. She also served him a 24-hour deadline to withdraw the pictures.

Speaking to reporters, Bedi said, “Kejriwal lacks etiquette… how could he use the picture without taking my permission?”

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay also confirmed that the party will initiate a legal case against Kejriwal for defaming their newly inducted party leader.

“We will move the Election Commission and seek action against Kejriwal for continuous Model code violations,” the party leader said, adding, “putting opinion polls on public transport, using Kiran ji’s posters is violation of Model Code of Conduct, action should be taken”

However, Kejriwal does not seem to be affected by warnings by the Election Commission. On Monday, despite an EC warning to refrain from making such remarks, Kejriwal once again exhorted Delhiites to accept bribes from BJP and Congress but vote for his party.

“Do the BJP and Congress come to you with money? If they do, don’t say no to them. Take the money. I know they are distributing blankets and sacks of rice as well. Take all of that, but reject liquor as it destroys families,” Kejriwal told people today as the crowd responded in affirmation with claps and cheers.

The former Delhi chief minister had been issued a notice by the Election Commission for making such remarks during rallies, stating it amounts to “abetting and promoting electoral offence of bribery” under relevant sections of the Representation of People Act read with provisions of the IPC.
