BJP parliamentarian and star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu launched a personal attack on Gujarat Parivartan Party chief Keshubhai Patel at an election rally in Gujarat's Narmada district calling him an explosive without firepower because of his old age.
Poking fun at the former BJP leader, Sidhu said, "Keshubhai Patel is like an used cartridge. But he still wants to be the chief minister."
However, Patel did not take the comments kindly.
"This is a political battle. But Sidhu has started abusing people personally. He also called me anti-national. No one has called me so in my 65 years of public life," the GPP chief told reporters.
The BJP MP attacked Congress and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well.
"Congress is defamed even more than Munni and will sell cheaper than Sheila," Sidhu told at the election rally referring to popular Bollywood numbers.
"Where are the one lakh crore jobs that the PM had promised?" asked the BJP leader.
"The Congress is giving tight slaps to the common man by failing to control high food prices," Sidhu said.
The former cricketer also chose the occasion to bat for Chief Minister Narendra Modi's future plans.
"This is not an election to elect a chief minister. The polls will elect the prime minister," Sidhu said.
