Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi talked tough at a party meeting in Delhi, saying that he will not tolerate any indiscipline in the party.
“There can be no indiscipline in the party, I will not tolerate it. I am not soft like Sonia”, Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying.
And the tough talking seemed to do some good, as party members had promised to drop their differences and fight the coming assembly elections unitedly. There has been some infighting between the camps of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and state party chief JP Agarwal.
Rahul Gandhi had also told Congress leaders in Delhi to ensure that the party won upcoming polls.
According to Dikshit, the meeting was a “wake-up call” for the state party leaders.
“It was a positive meeting indeed. He (Gandhi) woke up all of us. We will fight (assembly elections) together,” Dikshit said.
“We had differences…but everything has been sorted out. We will fight the polls together,” Agarwal told reporters after the meeting.
Party sources said Gandhi laid stress on bringing more democracy in the party and said that suggestions from party rank and file, ranging from a councillor to an MP, must be taken while formulating election strategy.
