Madurai: A crude pipe-bomb was recovered from the outskirts of Madurai earlier this morning on the route that was to be taken by BJP leader L K Advani on the second leg of his yatra against corruption.
Police sources said the 5 feet pipe bomb, connected with wires was recovered under a bridge at Alampatti near Tirumangalam, about 30 Kms from Madurai.
One person identified as Nehru was detained and was being questioned, they said.
Advani, who has the highest “Z-plus” category security, was on his way to Srivilliputhur via Tirumangalam, where he is scheduled to address a public meeting.
