A major fire broke out near Crawford market in Mumbai late on Friday night.The fire, which broke out around 3 am on Friday, originated from Sahara Mall and spread to Manish market on the Mohammad Ali Road in Mumbai.
Sources told CNN IBN that many shops have been gutted. However, there have been no casualties yet. The fire quickly spread to the markets in the vicinity and damaged property, which is estimated to be in crores.
The source of the fire in still unknown.
Over 20 fire tenders are trying to douse the flames. According to NDTV, the blaze at Sahara market has been brought under control while efforts were on to contain the fire in Manish market.
Crawford market is one of Mumbai’s oldest markets and the narrowness of the access road is proving to be a big hurdle for the firefighters.
