Woman molested, nearly stripped by goons in suburban Mumbai
The woman was arguing about paying an autorickshaw driver when she was assaulted by a gang of men.
In a shocking incident, a teenage girl was molested and nearly stripped in suburban Kandivali by a group of men after she got into an argument with an autorickshaw driver over the fare.
The 18-year-old victim and her friend had reportedly taken a rickshaw from the suburb of Bandra to the Hindustan Naka area of Kandivali on Tuesday evening when they realised they didn't have enough money to pay the fare.
The girl's friend had gone to get money from a relative's house but after she failed to return after some time, the girl said she would look for her and offered her mobile phone as security, reported the Times of India.
An argument broke out between the woman and the driver and a group of men who were playing cricket nearby gathered at the spot and began teasing her. Scared, when she ran, they reportedly chased her.
According to an NDTV report, the men chased her in the streets and even tore her clothes and when she ran into a restaurant, she was reportedly turned out.
She even attempted to enter another rickshaw but was dragged out. It was finally her screams for help that prompted a motorist to stop and hit one of her assailants. A beat marshal also reached the scene and managed to nab one of the group.
However, despite the incident the teenager was reluctant to file an FIR and it was only after a few hours of cajoling that she did so and the police has nabbed two more men allegedly involved in the incident.
