This morning the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, is at the ASEAN meet in Bali and there’s much talk about his meet with China’s Premier Wen Jai Bao and US President Barack Obama.
Even, before the summit could begin, India and China stressed on developing the relations between both countries. “India and China must work hand-in-hand for development to ensure that the 21st century belongs to Asia,” Wen said . While Singh said: “We are committed to developing the best of relations with China.”
Singh and Obama are hoping to strengthen their strategic ties. “This is an outstanding occasion to discuss how we can work together not only bilaterally but at multilateral level also,” Obama said, of the summit.
Eyes will also be set on any movement in the Nuclear Suppliers’ Liability Bill which was recently modified and approved by the Indian government and how Obama is going to react to that.
The other big story is the Winter Session of Parliment which begins next week and what its concerns will be. Speaker Meira Kumar yesterday held an all party meet in Delhi before the impending session to begin on 22 November.
And, while Kingfisher may be in dire straights, its owner Vijay Mallya is on the list of the top earning MPs in the Rajya Sabha. A total 140 MPs in Parliment are crorepatis, according to a Times of India report . Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who tops the chart at Rs 50 crore per annum, followed by Vijay Mallya (Rs 41.4 crore), Arun Jaitley (Rs 10 crore), Ram Jethmalani (Rs 8.41 crore) and Naresh Gujral (Rs 4.79) crore.
