Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to allow MLAs in the state to buy cars from their constituency development funds has been roundly opposed. But unsurprisingly one of his MLAs, Manoj Pandey from Raebareli thinks a car necessity since most of MLAs are so poorly off that they don’t even have cycles.
“We have around 104 MLAs who don’t even have cycles,” Pandey said to CNN IBN.
“There has just been a provision made that if an MLA doesn’t have a car, he can take one,” he added.
When CNN IBN asked Pandey why can’t MLAs spend their own money for the car, he said, “SP MLAs don’t have money to spend. This party is made of poor farmers.”
Pandey also said MLAs need cars to work for the welfare of the people in their constituencies.
“MLA is a representative of the people. During his tenure of five years he is always devoted to help the people. Wherever he goes he goes for the people. Hospitals, villages, flooded regions etc. Wont he need a car for all this?” he said.
