Wikileaks is out with yet another shocking revelation. This time, the whistle blower website claims that it has in its possession 5 million confidential email transactions between US-based intelligence firm Stratfor and the Dow Chemical company. Dow chemicals, which assumed ownership of the Union Carbide Corporation  since 2001 had allegedly kept tabs on the online activities of Bhopal Gas tragedy activists.

The activists aren’t shocked by the revelation though. They said that they are all very familiar with Dow and its dirty tricks and they now expect to use these emails to step up pressure to get Dow dropped as a London Olympics Sponsor. The activists also claim that Dow has been spying on the Indian government.

“We know the kind of company we are dealing with, it’s a dirty and it’s an evil company, and we just hope that this becomes a wake up call for the Indian government to make sure that Dow Chemicals is not let off the hook of Union Carbide’s liability. We have a strong suspicion that Dow Chemicals has been spying on the Indian government as well and that is why we are waiting for the previous files, but we are exploring the legal options in suing Dow Chemicals for spying,” said activist Rachna Dhingra.

The emails accessed by Wikileaks, date back to July 2004 when the Bhopal case was being heard in Indian courts. Stratfor provided these materials to Dow chemicals on a daily basis, till 2011.

This disclosure of the transaction, however, comes as an embarrassment to the intelligence agency as Stratfor which prides itself to be the CIA’s equivalent.

US thinktank Stratfor has reacted to the expose, saying “Having had our property stolen, we will not be victimised twice by submitting to questioning about them.”

Owner of wikileaks Julian Assange replied tersely replied “This is an organisation that just does not collect information through bribes, insiders, it is also an organisation that acts on that information to subvert particular groups. Stratfor spies or monitors activists seeking redress over the Bhopal tragedy which killed thousands in India.”
