A fire broke out in a culvert below railway tracks at Goregoan railway station in Mumbai at around 10.45 pm on Wednesday.
According to a report in The Times of India , a Western Railway official said that the fire broke out because “someone seems to have burnt a heap of garbage which was thrown in the culvert and the flames blew towards the railway tracks.”
Jay Mehta of Firstpost, who was at the site when the incident took place, said that the people in the local trains, which were halted, were getting out and heading back to the Goregaon station because the fast-train lane was working.
A motorman said that the entire problem would be resolved in ten minutes. However, trains remained halted for about an hour after the fire broke out.
