Delhi Police is rolling out PCR vans called Parakram to tighten security against terrorists. 10 of these vans have already begun to monitor areas of the Capital that experience high footfalls while 15 more are going to be added on 15 August, as part of Delhi Police’s efforts toward anti-terrorism preparedness.
These vans will be manned by a Special Commando, a National Security Guard and a specially trained driver. The guards will work in three shifts to ensure 24X7 protection against terrorist attacks. According to Delhi Police Special Commissioner Dipendra Pathak, the drivers have been trained to manoeuvre the vehicles even in “war-like situations”. The van’s positions will be mapped by the control room using GPS.
