The Delhi government has set up a special panel to probe the mishap and what led to the death.

Hapless relatives of the deceased blamed the hospital authorities for the negligence but the hospital has passed the buck. However, the authorities blamed the contractor for leaving only one untrained person in charge of the oxygen supply instead of the stipulated three people. The hospital authorities also said that only one cylinder, instead of 10 oxygen cylinders, was connected.

Delhi Health Minister AK Walia said, “The incident happened at 6:40 in the morning. The pressure of the oxygen being supplied to the patients was reduced which led to the death.” One of the patient’s landlord said, “My tenant was fine this morning. I don’t know how it happened but I think the hospital was careless with the patients’ oxygen supply.”
