The Uttar Pradesh police inspector who became an internet sensation after shouting "thain thain" during an encounter in Sambhal, was injured during an exchange of fire between police and suspects on Friday, ANI reported.

Inspector Manoj Kumar was injured after two men on a bike fired upon police, Superintendent of Police Yamuna Prasad told ANI: “During counter-firing, a criminal was also injured. One criminal absconding. Injured have been taken to the hospital.” On 12 October, Kumar mimicked the sound of a gunshot after his pistol jammed during an encounter in Sambhal district. A video of the incident went viral shortly after. In the video, another police officer can be heard shouting “maaro, maaro, ghero, thain, thain” with the intent of scaring the suspects.
