The CBI on Thursday named Raja Bhaiya in an FIR filed in the murder of DySP Zia-ul-Haq in Kunda, Uttar Pradesh. Charges pertaining to murder and conspiracy have been mentioned in the FIR, reported TimesNow.
Along with the former Uttar Pradesh minister, three others have been named in the FIR.
Raja Bhaiya has not yet been arrested or questioned by any investigation agency.
A ten-member team of CBI officials will leave for Kunda tonight to reconstruct the crime scene, reports CNN-IBN.
On Wednesday, CBI said it would start a probe into the death of of DSP Zia-ul-Haq in Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh in the backdrop of a growing demand for action against the state’s ruling SP leader Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya.
Zia-ul-Haq, posted as Circle Officer in Kunda town, was allegedly killed by a mob in Pratapgarh on Saturday when he had rushed there after a village head was shot dead over a land dispute.
44-year-old Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who has a criminal record and has been jailed before, figures in the FIR filed by the slain officer’s wife Parveen Azad in which the minister was accused of criminal conspiracy. Parveen also demanded a CBI probe.
When contacted, Raja Bhaiya, who resiged as food and supplies minister, refuted allegations.
