University of Delhi observes 'Veer Baal Diwas'

University of Delhi observes 'Veer Baal Diwas'

A special program on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas on the topic “Indian Cultural Values and Veer Sahibzabdiwas” was organised on 26 December 2023 at Gandhi Bhawan to honour their sacrifices for religion and society. The idea of the programme was to revive history, to honour and tribute the sacrifices made by Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. The programme was organised under the guidance of Prof. Niranjan Kumar, Dean Colleges and Chairperson Value Added Courses Committee. On this occasion, Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, National Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party and former President, Delhi Gurdwara Committee was the chief guest. Shri. Tarlochan Singh, MP, Rajya Sabha and former Chairman, National Minorities Commission was the special guest. Shri. Prafulla Ketkar, Editor, Organiser weekly, was the guest of honor. Prof. Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges chaired the program. Prof. Niranjan Kumar in his address, said that in New India, Indian culture has been prioritised. He further said that the Indian tradition is a blend of humanity, philanthropy, and tolerance and we need to carry forward this tradition through education. Shri. Prafulla Ketkar, in his address said that after independence India began its new cultural journey. He also said that sacrifice has been integral to our Indian culture. Further, he appreciated the efforts of the Value Addition Course Committee in organizing the event. Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa praised the efforts of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji in spreading awareness regarding Sikh’s contribution in nation building. He also praised the bravery of Zorawar Singh ji and Fateh Singh ji. He emphasized on the proposal of new perspectives to look at history to acknowledge Sikh community’s contributions/sacrifices for this noble cause. Shri. Tarlochan Singh Ji, in his address said that Sikhs have always created history, but have never been given recognition. Praising the present government, he said that under the leadership of Modi ji, the government has done a commendable job of bringing Indian heritage to the fore. Prof. Pani, said that the honorable Prime Minister Modi ji has made efforts in reviving the history of India. He further said that under the patronage of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, the University is committed to conducting such programs.
