UNESCO lists Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier’s works – including the Indian city of Chandigarh which he planned in the 1950s– among its World Heritage Sites. Le Corbusier is famed for calling a house a “machine for living” and perhaps similar clarity of thought will be needed to ensure Chandigarh remains true to his vision in the 21st century.
