Hyderabad: In a shocking incident three army jawans in Hyderabad were arrested on Tuesday for attempting to rape a minor girl on Sunday night.
Hawaldar Lok Bahadur Chatri and sepoys Tapas M and Solan N posted at the Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) Centre at Secunderabad were arrested after a 17-year-old girl accused them of misbehaving with her after taking her to a secluded place in the military area.
The incident took place on Diwali night when the girl and her boyfriend had gone to a place near the AOC Cantonment area in Secunderabad to see fireworks.
CNN-IBN reported the girl as saying the three soldiers approached them, chased the boyfriend away and tried to sexually assault her.
The men had allegedly snatched her two-wheeler and cellphone.
In her complaint, the girl also alleged that the men beat up her boyfriend accompanying her. The boyfriend then told the matter to locals who rushed to the spot and caught hold of the three army personnel, the police said.
After a complaint, the three armymen were arrested, and booked on the charges of attempted rape and trying to outrage the modesty of a woman, DCP (North Zone) R Jayalakshmi said.
