For the first time, S-400 and Akash air defence systems were pressed into action on Wednesday against incoming Pakistani missiles and drones, according to sources.
Last night, India said that Pakistan attempted to attack military sites across northern and western India with missiles and drones. India said that these missiles and drones were successfully intercepted.
Pakistan’s attempted strikes in India were an apparent response to India’s Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday. India struck nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), which included the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taibah (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
Sources have said that Russia-made S-400 and indigenous Akash air defence systems were pressed into action to intercept incoming Pakistani drones and missiles.
Sources said that both hard kill and soft kill technologies were employed against Pakistani drones.
In response to Pakistan’s attempted attacks last night, India struck air defence radars and systems this morning at a number of locations in Pakistan. India further said that it has been reliably learnt that an air defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.
India said that Pakistan had attempted following places in India last night: Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
