While victors celebrating their return home is hardly unusual, a Samajwadi Party MLA and his supporters have been booked by the police for riding a horse on the railway platform and causing a nuisance. The MLAs supporters also allegedly attacked a passenger at the station.
Samajwadi Party MLA Shakir Ali had returned to his home constituency on a train yesterday and his supporters believing it to be a momentous occasion were at hand with a horse for him to ride home on.
The MLA, perhaps no stranger to horses, obliged and with fanfare began riding out of the station. A passenger who claimed the MLAs supporters tried to snatch his phone was assaulted.
The police were silent throughout but swung into action hours after the MLA had left and registered a case against the Ali and his supporters.
The MLA said he was not aware of a passenger being assaulted but claimed the passenger could have been a pickpocket, the Times of India reported .
