A few workers of Shiv Sena landed outside author Shobhaa De’s home on Thursday afternoon to protest against her tweets after the Maharashtra government declared that multiplexes will have to screen one Marathi film in prime time slots in one auditorium. Shobhaa De tweeted at around 1 pm on Thursday saying:
Anshu Lal of Firstpost writes that the address of the author was circulated by partymen on WhatsApp and around 1.30 on Thursday afternoon, a bunch of Shiv Sena workers showed up in front of the author’s with a tray of vada pav and misal pav – just like Shobhaa De said in her tweets! While the author kept tweeting developments as they unfolded, Twitter just couldn’t get over the fact that Shiv Sena, who have been famous for their more violent protests, actually embraced Gandhigiri and showed up with a tray of vada pav at the author’s house! It was quite anti-climatic because before the Shiv Sena workers actually came marching to the author’s house, Shobhaa De tweeted:
But once photos of the party workers carrying vada pav surfaced on the internet, Twitter erupted with laughter!
Shobhaa De reacted as well:
Here are a few other tweets which we found hilarious!
