Jaitley has set aside Rs. 4000 crore for low-cost housing routed through the National Housing Bank, and has extended additional tax incentive on housing loans.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is in populist mode in the Union Budget 2014 that is currently underway. After allocating funds for AIIMS medical centres in more states, along with five more IITs and IIMs each, the government is aiming to achieve housing for all by 2022.

To this effect, Jaitley has set aside Rs. 4000 crore for low-cost housing routed through the National Housing Bank, and has extended additional tax incentive on housing loans.
