'Won't stay mum, will reveal everyone's name,' threatens doctor arrested in Pune Porsche crash case

“Mei chup nahi baithunga, sabka naam bahar aaega (I will not stay mum, will reveal everyone’s name),” said Dr Ajay Taware, head of Sassoon General Hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, arrested by Pune Police for allegedly swapping the blood sample of the 17-year-old accused in Porsche car crash case.

Dr Taware and Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Sassoon Hospital were arrested on Monday by the Crime Branch which is investigating the Pune Porsche accident case.

The duo has allegedly dumped the minor boy’s blood sample in a dustbin and had sent blood sample of a different person to the forensic lab.

The father of the boy, Vishal Agarwal, who is a renowned real estate developer, was in constant touch with Dr Taware and reportedly, offered Rs 3 lakh bribe for helping prove that his son was not drunk at the time of the accident on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar.

The teen was allegedly driving his unregistered Porsche Taycan under the influence of alcohol. He rammed his luxurious car into a bike, killing two techies - Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta (both 24 years old from Madhya Pradesh and working in Pune) - on the spot.

A report by Times Now quoted sources saying that during interrogation Dr Taware said he got a call from a “public representative”. Now, the Crime Branch is ascertaining who the “public representative” was.

Apart from the two doctors, the Pune Crime Branch on Monday arrested another staffer from Sassoon Hospital, Atul Ghatkamble, who acted as a middle man, and allegedly took Rs 3 lakh from the teen’s family to give to Dr Taware and Dr Halnor who allegedly manipulated the blood sample of the accused.

Of the total Rs 3 lakh, the Pune Crime Branch recovered Rs 2.5 lakh from Dr Halnor and the remaining Rs 50,000 from Ghatkamble, who worked under Dr Taware.
