To forge a blood test report and show the 17-year-old boy was not drunk at the time of the Pune Porsche crash on May 19, doctors were bribed with Rs 3 lakh. However, the attempt by Agarwals failed as the cops carried out a second test to be doubly sure.

The teen boy was allegedly drunk when he knocked down two young techies with his speedy unregistered Porsche Taycan in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar.

The Pune Police were unconvinced with the forensic test report provided by the Sassoon General Hospital where the blood sample of the accused was collected around 11 am on May 19, the day of the accident.

After this the cops took another blood sample of the juvenile accused for DNA testing at a different government hospital, the report of which confirmed he had consumed alcohol.

Let’s understand the entire turn of events giving strange twists to the Pune Porsche crash case.

- The blood sample of the accused boy was collected at Sassoon General Hospital on May 19 at 11 am.

- The moment the father of the minor got to know that his son’s blood sample would be collected for testing at Sassoon Hospital, he started using his contacts and ended up connecting with Dr Ajay Taware, head of the hospital’s Forensic Medicine department.

- Vishal Agarwal, the boy’s father, is a renowned real estate developer. He constantly remained in contact with Dr Taware and tried using all his might to shield his son.

- It appears that Vishal Agarwal’s persistent calls and likely convincing helped change Taware’s mind.

- On Taware’s request, Dr Shrihari Halnore, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Sassoon Hospital changed the blood samples of the minor.

- The blood sample of a different person was sent to the forensic lab and the minor’s blood sample was thrown in a dustbin.

- The doctors at Sassoon then reported that the minor accused had not consumed alcohol on the day of the Pune Porsche accident.

- As per reports, the blood sample was discarded and replaced with another possibly after a bribe of Rs 3 lakh was promised.

- Not convinced, the Pune Police, investigating the case, took another blood sample of the juvenile accused for a DNA test and this time at a different government hospital.

- The blood sample of the boy collected for the second time matched with the blood sample of his father.

- However, the blood sample from Sassoon Hospital, which was collected initially, did not match the blood sample of the accused.

- During the police probe, the doctor admitted to changing the blood sample.

On Monday (May 27), the Pune Crime Branch said Atul Ghatkamble, a staffer of the Sassoon Hospital, who acted as a middle man, and allegedly collected Rs 3 lakh from the teen’s family to give to the two doctors who threw the boy’s blood sample in a dustbin and changed it with another person’s blood sample.

Ghatkamble was arrested late on Monday, barely hours after Dr Taware and Dr Halnor were taken into custody.

Of the total amount, Rs 2.5 lakh was recovered from Dr Halnor, while the remaining Rs 50,000 was found from Ghatkamble, who worked under Dr Taware.

All three have been remanded in police custody till May 30.
