Neha Verma tops PSEB Class 10 exams, Nandini Mahajan first in sports category

Neha Verma of Teja Singh Samundri Senior Secondary School in Ludhiana topped the PSEB Class 10 exams 99.54 percent. Nandini Mahajan of Bal Vidya Mandir school, Nangal, Ritika of BMC School in Ludhiana and Neeraj Yadav of TSSSS, Ludhiana topped the PSEB Class 10 exams in the sports category.

PSEB Class 10 figures from 1032018

In 2018, the overall pass percentage was 59.47 percent. Of the 3,68,295 students who appeared for the exam, 2,19,034 cleared it last year. While 1,04,828 girls cleared the exam, 1,04,126 boys passed the board exam.

85.56 percent students pass PSEB Class 10 exams

This year, the pass percentage stands at 85.56 percent. Students from Pathankot district performed the best, registering a pass percentage of 91.2 percent. Tarn Taran district has lowest 74.26 percent pass percentage.

Gurpreet Singh topper of PSEB Class 10 2018

Last year, Gurpreet Singh of Harkrishan Sahib Public Senior secondary School, Ludhiana, topped the exam with a score of 98 percent. Jasmeen Kaur of Shishu Model High School in Kapurthala bassed the second position with 97.85 percent.

Abysmal performance by boys in PSEB Class 10 2018

Last year, nearly every second boy who appeared for the Punjab board Class 10 exams failed the exam. Girls had fared much better with 69.13 percent clearing the papers.

Of the 2,11,521 boys who appeared for the Class 10 exams, only 1,10,655 passed (52.31 percent). Of the 1,56,774 girls who appeared for the exams, 1,08,380 passed.
