Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill a big step towards social justice and accused the Congress party of indulging in appeasement politics.
Addressing the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, PM Modi said “Appeasement politics is not new — its seeds were sown during independence. The two-nation theory was not the decision of ordinary Muslims. Congress gained power through appeasement, but what did Muslims receive in return? The 2013 amendments were made to appease the land mafia. The new Waqf law will restore dignity for all, especially the marginalised.”

The PM said that said that the world is looking at India with hope and the nation will become world’s third largest economy in a quick time.
“The whole world is looking at India with hope. We have become the world’s fifth largest economy in a short time. India did not stop despite challenges and doubled its economy size in ten years. Those who used to think that India would run slow and steady are now seeing a fast and fearless India. There is no doubt that India will become world’s third largest economy,” Modi said.
