Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has said that Pakistan has used terrorism-related information in the past to track and defend terrorists.

Speaking at a press conference on Operation Sindoor, Misri said this in response to a question whether India has considered the offer of Pakistan for jointly investigating the Pahalgam attack.

After the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan had offered to jointly investigate the matter . However, India rejected the offer as similar collaborations in the past did not go anywhere.

Misri said, “We shared evidences in Mumbai attacks and Pathankot. We even made joint teams in Pathankot. Pakistan uses our evidences only to cover its tracks.”

Previously, India had made efforts for joint investigations with Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008 and the attack on Pathankot airbase in 2016, but no substantial action was taken by Pakistan. Terrorist groups, leaders, and facilities continued to receive patronage in the country.

With such a past, Pakistan does not have a track record for joint investigations, said Misri.

“Weather it is Mumbai or Pathankot, India had offered to cooperate and provided forenisc evidence. If we take Mumbai attack when the 26/11 terrorist was caught alive, cases were registered but you all are aware that cases never progressed. With regard to Pathakot, joint investigating teams were formed. Details of call records and DNA was shared. We shared all details and evidence of office-bearers of Jaish-e-Muhammad. But, no, the movement on that experinece has not been positive. It does not give us confidence,” said Misri.
