Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his aides have been given a clean chit in the death of National Conference party worker Haji Yusuf.
The chief minister was exonerated in a magisterial inquiry, which said that the party worker died of heart attack, reported CNN-IBN .
Omar, however, refused to comment on the issue. He said, “The Justice Bedi Commission has not concluded its inquiry. So I will not be commenting till then.”
Yusuf had died in the police custody on 30 September after he was arrested for allegedly taking money from two National Conference workers to get them seats in the state’s Legislative Council.
Yousuf’s death had sparked a political storm in Jammu & Kashmir as he died a day after he visited Omar’s house.
While Yusuf’s family alleged he was tortured to death, the Omar government claimed that autopsy report showed Yusuf died of cardiac arrest.
