News Wrap: Media report highlights army-govt rift

- Our top story today is the disclosure of unexpected movement of two army divisions towards the national capital on 16 January, ironically the same day that the Army chief approached the Supreme Court over the date of birth issue, which set alarm bells ringing across the political and bureaucratic establishment.

- Hafiz Saeed, the Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief for whom the US has announced a bounty of $10 million, has said that America can contact him “whenever they want” and that he was living in the open. More detail in the bulletin.

- In a report called “Apple Fever Has More to Run”, Brian White, an analyst with Topeka Capital Markets, has made a stock prediction based that Apple shares will hit a value of $1001 in the next year! He bases it on the fact that the tech giant still has plenty of room to grow.

- In sport, the Champions League is a small story tonight, in spite of Messi scoring a couple of goals to see Barcelona go past AC Milan to make the semis of the elite club competition for the fifth time in a row….the bigger and better story remains the IPL as CSK take on Mumbai Indians in today’s fixture, kicking off an eight-week extravaganza.
