The report also says that explosives were triggered using a ‘command wire mechanism’. Reports also say that a group of around 50 Maoists had camped in the area for at least five days before the attack.
The attack, which killed 24 people including two Senior Congress leaders Mahendra Karma and Nand Kumar Patel, also left former union minister VC Shukla critically injured. Later in a statement, the Maoists said that Karma had been the target of the attack as he was the founder of Salwa Judum.
A post-mortem report revealed that Karma had been stabbed over 70 times and had bled to death.
