A Delhi court on Wednesday remanded Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, to 11 days of custody under the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The court granted the remand after the NIA, led by Special Public Prosecutor Rahul Tyagi, said that extended interrogation was essential to unearth the conspiracy behind a network of criminal operations.

“He is a very important member of the terror-gangster syndicate. He has some very important information. He was running the syndicate and was a key member,” Tyagi told reporters. The agency had originally sought 15 days of custodial interrogation.

Anmol Bishnoi’s long record of criminal activities

Anmol Bishnoi, who was deported from the United States and taken into custody immediately upon landing in Delhi, is a key figure in several serious cases.

Authorities say he played a central role in the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his son’s Bandra East office in October 2024. According to the chargesheet, Anmol allegedly orchestrated the plot from abroad, staying in constant touch with the shooters through social media apps, promising them cash payments along with a flat and a vehicle.

Police investigations revealed months of reconnaissance around Siddique’s home and office, allegedly carried out at Anmol’s direction. Officials claim he ordered the hit to assert his gang’s dominance and intimidate local businessmen, and he has since been named as a wanted conspirator in the case.

He is also linked to the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024, a case that drew nationwide attention. Investigators believe Anmol remotely coordinated the attack while abroad, using encrypted communication channels to guide the shooters. He later claimed responsibility through a social media post.

Evidence gathered by police suggests the shooting was meant to serve as a warning rather than a murder attempt, though they suspect a broader conspiracy that may have included plans targeting Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel. Interrogation transcripts reportedly show that Anmol had instructed his associates to “scare” the actor as a show of strength.

Anmol’s name also surfaces in the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, one of the most sensational criminal cases in recent years. While his older brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, was already implicated, investigators say Anmol played a key support role: providing logistical backing, staying in touch with the attackers, and facilitating movements and resources from abroad.

Beyond individual crimes, agencies describe Anmol as a major node in a transnational crime syndicate operating across India, West Asia, and North America. He is alleged to have managed the gang’s finances, coordinated extortion networks, and helped move funds through hawala channels into foreign real-estate and hospitality businesses. Police records show he faces dozens of cases in Rajasthan alone, ranging from extortion and criminal intimidation to attempted murder.

The court will revisit his case on November 29, once the NIA’s current remand period ends.

HAL will deliver eight Tejas Mk1A fighter planes in the next 24-36 months, with production ramping up later. The Indian government ordered 83 Mk1A in 2021 and 97 more in September. Delays are due to engine procurement issues from GE, but production is expected to stabilize soon.
