Kulgam Encounter: Killer of teacher Rajni Bala trapped in ongoing operation by security forces

In an ongoing encounter in Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir, the killer of school teacher Rajni Bala is believed to be trapped by the security forces on Wednesday after a night-long lull at the gunfight. The operation comes shortly after the security forces killed the terrorist responsible for the killing of bank manager Vijay Kumar. The 36-year-old was shot dead by terrorists in the Gopalpora area of Kulgam on 8 June. The encounter in Kujar began on Tuesday evening and in the first exchange of fire, the terrorists managed to escape, the IGP Kashmir said. Quoting a senior police officer, news agency GNS reported that firing resumed at encounter site early this morning. One among the trapped militants is responsible for the killing of Rajni Bala, the officer added. This came as another encounter broke out between the militants and security forces at Kanjiular in Shopian after the personnel launched a cordon and search operation in the area. Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said one of the slain militants was identified as Jan Mohammad Lone, who was allegedly involved in the killing of a bank manager in Kulgam district recently. “One of the killed #terrorists has been identified as Jan Mohd Lone of #Shopian. Besides other #terror crimes, he was involved in recent killing of Vijay Kumar, Bank manager on 2/6/22 in #Kulgam district,” the officer tweeted.
