Kolkata: State Transport Minister Madan Mitra today said retired Supreme Court judge Ashok Ganguly, who has been accused of allegedly sexually harassing a law intern, has insulted the entire judiciary and should have resigned by now.

“Justice Ganguly has insulted the entire judiciary. No one has insulted the judiciary the way he did,” Mitra said.

West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) has said it has “dissociated” itself from its honorary professor Justice (Retd) A K Ganguly accused of sexually harassing a law student, who had worked as an intern under him. “He should have dissociated himself long back. What will he teach there in the University?” Mitra said.

After being indicted by a three-member panel of Supreme Court judges over the intern’s allegation, Ganguly is also facing demands to step down as the chairperson of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC).
