'It's a proud feeling': Nita Ambani gets emotional as Anant Ambani completes 170 km padyatra

Nita Ambani, Founder-Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said she is “very proud” to see her youngest son, Anant Ambani, completing a 170 km padyatra from Jamnagar to Dwarkadhish Temple. The Director of Reliance Industries Limited and son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani completed the 170 km spiritual walk on Sunday.

Anant embarked on this journey ahead of his 30th birthday. Lauding his son’s endeavour, Nita Ambani highlighted the cultural impact on participants.

“As a mother, it’s a very proud feeling to see my son Anant complete his padayatra from Jamnagar to this divine place of Dwarakadish. My heart is filled with joy, and I seek blessings from everyone. For all the youngsters who have accompanied Anant for the last 10 days, they are spreading our ‘Sanskriti,’ our tradition, our culture and carrying it forward," she said after the completion of the Padyatra.

Nita Ambani thanked Lord Dwarakadish for giving strength to Anant, “whose determination and commitment and devotion to God has been supreme." What makes the milestone significant is the fact that Anant is battling with Cushing’s Syndrome—a rare hormonal disorder—and morbid obesity, along with chronic conditions like asthma and severe lung disease that have challenged him since childhood.

About the padyatra

The 29-year-old director on the boards of Jio Platforms Ltd, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd Reliance New Energy Ltd and Reliance New Solar Energy Ltd, began his spiritual walk on March 29. “I extend my best wishes to all on the occasion of Ram Navami. I did the darshan of the Dwarikadhish, and with this, my padayatra has completed…” Anant said while speaking to the reporters after completion of the 170-km stretch.

During his journey, he sought blessings from Lord Dwarkadhish. He walked around 20 kilometres each day, often through the night and was accompanied by Z+ security. On April 4, Anant was joined by Bageshwar Baba. Sarkar Acharya Dhirendra Shastri was seen walking with Reliance Industries Limited Director’s convey. Acharya Dhirendra, widely known as Bageshwar Baba, was in the stretch bare feet.

Meanwhile, Anant recalled the time he shared his decision to go on a spiritual walk with his father and Chairman of RIL, Mukesh Ambani. “When I told my father (Mukesh Ambani) that I wanted to do the walk, he gave me a lot of power, and I want to express my gratitude to him," he said.

“With God’s grace and blessing, the journey of 10 days will end today on the occasion of Ram Navami. We only want God to keep everyone happy, satisfied and healthy. Although the journey was supposed to end after a day or two, we walked some extra miles in the last two to three days which made it possible for us to reach here on the occasion of Ram Navami," he said.

The RIL non-executive director was chanting the Hanuman Chalisa, Sunderkand, and the Devi Stotra on his way to Dwarka. During his journey, he also received love and warmth from local communities.

The youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani is a devoted pilgrim and philanthropist who often visits India’s revered temples and generously supports their causes. He serves as a trustee at the sacred Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham, further solidifying his commitment to India’s spiritual heritage.
