Major airlines in India are issuing travel advisories as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate. Air India, IndiGo, Spice Jet and Akasa Air have all taken to their respective social media accounts and shared details of their travel advisories. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after Islamabad conducted coordinated strikes in several parts of the Indian territory, which were intercepted by the Indian air defence system.

Almost all the airlines asked passengers to reach the airport 3 hours before their flight and asked them to be patient in case of delay or cancellation. “In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding,” Air India wrote on X.

IndiGo took a similar stance on the matter: “In these extraordinary times, heightened security measures are taken up across all airports. We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”

“In light of enhanced security measures across all airports, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure to ensure a smooth check-in and boarding process,” SpiceJet wrote in a separate post.

PIB rejects false claims

In its post, Akasa Air also specified other measures passengers should take to ensure they travel smoothly. “Please ensure you carry valid government-approved photo identification documents for entry to the airport. In addition to your check-in baggage, only one handbag weighing upto 7 kgs will be permitted. As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks before boarding,” it said in its post.

Meanwhile, PIB has also busted the rumours that Indian airports have been shut due to escalating tensions. “Fake News Alert! Social media posts are claiming that entry to airports across India has been banned. This claim is FAKE. The government has taken no such decision…” PIB wrote on X.

Republic Day 2026: Meet the founding mothers of the Indian Constitution

The Indian Constitution, the world's longest, was drafted by 299 Constituent Assembly members, including 15 pioneering women from diverse backgrounds. These women, such as Ammu Swaminathan, Sarojini Naidu, and Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, fought for social justice, women's rights, and equality. Their contributions shaped key constitutional principles, including the abolition of untouchability, universal adult franchise, and the inclusion of women's rights.
