'I learn, not teach': PM Modi engages with students nationwide at Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with students from across India during the ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC), saying that his conversations with young learners are meant to be mutual learning experiences rather than lectures.

“I engage in these conversations to learn, not to teach,” he said during the interactive session, which aims to prepare students for examinations while easing stress and building confidence.

The annual programme, which has now become a pan‑India movement, brought together exam‑going students, parents and teachers in a wide‑ranging discussion that went beyond traditional tips for board success to touch upon life skills, confidence, discipline and personal development. More than 4.5 crore students and an additional 2.26 crore participants took part in associated activities this year.

Focus on holistic learning and self‑belief

Modi urged students to trust their own study rhythms and not get overwhelmed by comparisons with others. Stressing the importance of self‑belief, he said everyone learns differently and students should consider advice only when it resonates with their personal style. “Listen to everyone’s advice, but change your pattern only when you want to,” he told students.

The PM also said that education should be about life, not just exams. He reminded students that examinations are a way to measure themselves, not define their entire journey.
