Gurugram: Two men along with their father were allegedly booked for posing as members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in an extortion bid of Rs 50 lakh with a farmer in Patli village here on Saturday. As per news reports, more than half a dozen incidents have been reported so far in Haryana-Punjab region in the past six months where accused were held/booked for using dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang name in order to criminally intimidate someone either for money or influence. The accused in this case were identified as Karambir and his sons, Deepak and Mohit. native of Farrukhnagar police station area. They were booked in an FIR following a complaint by the victim who lived in the same village named Surender Singh, police said. As per the complaint, Singh had recently received Rs 75 lakh as compensation for giving his piece of land for a railway line project and the accused were aware of the development. He alleged that he received threatening calls on WhatsApp on August 29, adding that the accused also threatened to kill him the way popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was murdered. Singh said his photographs were also uploaded on social media networks by the accused. We have registered a case and are verifying the facts. Action will be taken according to law, Jitender Kumar, SHO, Farrukhnagar police station said on Saturday.
