A Gurgaon court on Monday did not consider the anticipatory bail plea of Rajesh, the alleged driver of a
BMW car which crashed into another vehicle in Gurgaon killing a pregnant lady
, after the police said they had not found any evidence of his involvement in the case. Gurgaon police did not oppose the bail of Rajesh, saying that despite his claims, initial investigations had established he was not behind the wheel at the time of the accident. The chauffeur had surrendered to the police last week and had said he was driving the speeding car at the time of the incident. well-wishers created a Facebook page
to protest the against the incident. The group, which has over 20,000 followers, carried out a candle light vigil on 14 May in Gurgaon demanding the arrest and strict action against the culprits. Earlier, concerns had been raised about a possible
cover up in the case under the influence of money.
While the owner of the BMW, Devender Sehrawat maintains that, Rajesh, his driver was driving the car, police suspect it as an attempt to save his son, Suraj, who is suspected to have been behind the wheel when the crash happened.
