New Delhi: A minor fire which broke out in a conference room in the North Block around 2.00pm on Sunday has now been reportedly brought under control.
While the cause of the fire cannot be ascertained fully, early guesses say that it could have been a result of a short circuit.
Early reports have also confirmed that there has been no damage to documents in the North block. The exact nature of damage is however yet to be ascertained.
Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Initial reports state that the fire which broke out in the first floor of the North Block, may have damaged the office of Home Minister P Chidambaram, and could also have caused some damage to the Finance Ministry. A conference room is also reportedly damaged. Unconfirmed media reports say that the floor also houses several key Intelligence Bureau offices.
There is still no word on what could have caused the fire, which comes just three days after a massive fire gutted three floors of the Mantralaya building in Mumbai.
More details are awaited.
