An Indian passenger on an Air India flight from Melbourne to New Delhi reportedly created such a ruckus in the plane after getting drunk that he had to be tied to his seat.
The Times of India reported that the passenger, after a few drinks, allegedly tried to tear the clothes of two flight attendants and even tried to beat and bite some fellow passengers.
The report added that the crew even considered diverting the flight to Singapore because of the threat posed to the other passengers. However, since that would have a delay of several hours for the passengers, the crew instead decided to tie the passenger to his seat with ropes and wires. That was not an easy task since such material is tough to find on an aircraft.
“Foreign airlines are very strict. Try asking for a third or fourth drink on any western airline and the crew will firmly warn that you will be reported on arrival if you ask for more. Our hospitality, however, makes our crew more lenient which they should not be," a pilot was quoted as saying.
