BJP wins a landslide in Delhi, Amit Shah credits all BJP workers for victory as AAP loses UT

The Bharatiya Janata Party is heading for a landslide victory in the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections with a massive lead in 47 seats. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is still counting votes for the much-awaited Delhi Assembly elections, with the final result to be announced in the later hours.

In a major setback, AAP’s top boss Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia have lost their seats from a narrow margin.

The BJP took lead in the early trends itself and maintained its lead through the counting of votes.

There was a fierce three-way battle among the incumbent AAP, BJP, and Congress. There are 70 total seats in Delhi assembly, for which counting started at 8 AM.

Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, failed to open its account in the last two assembly polls. As of the early numbers of this year’s results, the Congress still struggles to get a single seat.

BJP leads in 47 seats, AAP in 23

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 47 seats as early trends emerge. Whereas, the AAP is ahead in 23 seats.

AAP has dominated the last two assembly polls in Delhi. In the last assembly polls in 2020, AAP registered a massive win, securing 62 out of 70 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP won eight.

Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has lost the New Delhi assembly seat to Bhartiya Janata Party’s Parvesh Verma. Kejriwal’s former deputy Manish Sisodia has lost the election from Jagpura.

BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri is leading in Kalkaji against Chief Minister Atishi in early trends. AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj is also currently leading.

The New Delhi constituency has become the hottest seat of the election, with several heavyweight candidates, including Arvind Kejriwal from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Sandeep Dikshit representing the Indian National Congress (INC).

Former Delhi minister Kailash Gehlot is leading from the Bijwasan seat, while AAP’s Surender Bhardwaj and Congress’s Col Devinder Sehrawat are trailing. Gehlot who left AAP to join the BJP last year.

The BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht was leading by 16,181 votes in Mustafabad -where the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) fielded northeast Delhi riots-accused Tahir Hussain - after three rounds.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra is leading in Karawal Nagar, while AAP’s Manoj Tyagi and Congress’s PM Mishra are trailing.
