Who is Umar?

According to News18 sources, Dr Umar U. Nabi, the son of Gh. Nabi Bhat worked as a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad. His mother, Shamima Banoo, is originally from Koil in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Born on February 24, 1989, Dr Umar was said to be a close associate of Dr Adeel, another suspect currently under investigation as part of the ongoing terror network probe.

Sources revealed that Umar’s father, a government school teacher suffering from mental health issues, left his job nearly 10–15 years ago. The family includes two brothers and an elder sister; the sister and one brother are married, while the other brother remains unmarried. Police have detained both brothers and their mother for questioning.

Officials suspect that Dr Umar was among a network of medical professionals who were radicalised via encrypted Telegram channels, forming what investigators describe as the “Faridabad module.” He earned his MD in Medicine from Government Medical College, Srinagar, served as a senior resident at GMC Anantnag, and later relocated to Delhi. At the time of the blast, he held the position of Assistant Professor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad.
