Coronavirus LATEST News Updates: The Central Government on Tuesday announced new rates for COVID-19 vaccines for private hospitals. As per the new rates, one shot of Covishield will be available for Rs 780, a shot of COVAXIN for Rs 1,410 and a shot of Sputnik V for Rs 1,145, after taxes and service charges. The price per dose as declared by the manufacturer is Rs 600 for a dose of Covishield, Rs 1200 for a dose of COVAXIN, and Rs 948 for a dose of Sputnik V. However, after adding 5 percent GST imposed on vaccine doses, which comes to Rs 30 for Covishield, Rs 60 for Covaxin and Rs 47.40-47 for Sputnik V, and the service charge of Rs 150 (revised under the new vaccination guidelines), the final price per dose has come down. The Telangana Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday announced the extension of lockdown across the state for 10 days starting from 10 June, however, restrictions will be eased between 6 am to 6 pm. The state government said that that there will be no restrictions between 6 am to 5 pm, and an extra hour from 5 pm to 6 pm will be given to people to reach their homes or destinations. The lockdown will apply even to those constituencies which have been zero cases, including Sathupalle, Mathira, Nalgonda, Nagarjuna Sagar, Devarakonda, Munugode, Miryalaguda constituencies, the CMO tweeted on Tuesday. As COVID-19 cases show a declining trend in the Union Territory, the Chandigarh administration on Tuesday eased restrictions, allowing all shops to remain open till 6 pm and reducing the night curfew timing. The administration also allowed all restaurants, bars, gyms, clubs and spas to open with 50 percent capacity. However, the cinema halls and theatres will continue to remain closed. Maharashtra reports 10,891 new COVID-19 cases and 295 fatalities, taking the tally to 58,52,891 and the toll to 1,01,172. Total recoveries reach 55,80,925 with 16,577 patients discharged today. Kerala on Tuesday reported 15,567 new COVID-19 cases and 124 deaths, taking the tally to 26.27 lakh and the toll to 10,281. Delhi reported 316 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. With this, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the national capital has reached over 14.29 lakh, while the toll mounted to 24,668. The Centre told the Bombay High Court on Tuesday that a door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination programme for senior citizens, specially-abled, bed-ridden and wheelchair-bound people is currently not possible, but it has decided to start “near-to-door” inoculation centres. The Centre on Tuesday said that it has placed an order to purchase 25 crores doses of Covishield and 19 crore doses of Covaxin. Asserting that vaccine supply would be increased significantly in the coming days, Modi said the centre has now decided to buy 75 percent of jabs from vaccine makers for free supply to states, while private sector hospitals will continue to procure 25 percent of vaccines but they cannot charge more than Rs 150 per dose over the pre-fixed price.
