The BJP is on course to sweep Madhya Pradesh, with trends suggesting a comfortable win for the party. But what’s the reason for the possible victory? Many attribute it to four-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and efforts made to woo women voters through schemes and welfare policies.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: BJP inching towards landslide victory

As the counting progresses in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has crossed 160 seats of the 230-seat Assembly and inching towards a major victory, according to the latest data.

The incumbent chief minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan has won the Budhni constituency by a huge margin of 77,286, news18 reported.

Party workers and supporters of the BJP came out on the streets and began celebrating by dancing, and chanting slogans as trends predicted a comfortable win for the party. Workers distributed sweets and chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ began ringing out loud.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The people of the country have shown their mood through these elections. We have done well in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. People have supported our schemes. I thank PM Modi. party President JP Nadda, party workers, people of these states. Now development will happen at a faster pace here because a double-engine government will be formed…”

The possible win in the state is contrary to the exit polls, which had predicted a tight race and some even giving the Congress an outside chance at ousting the BJP from a state it has dominated since 2003. Four of nine exit polls had given the BJP a comfortable win; three gave it over 139 of the Assembly’s 230 seats.
