The condition of three-month-old baby Afreen admitted in a Bangalore hospital continues to be critical and she has been having convulsions, hospital officials said.
The child’s brain cells may have been damaged when she was assaulted by her father and she had been having convulsions, doctors at the Vani Vilas hospital said in a statement.
“In the night, the baby had blood mixed with her stools. She is still in ventilation. She had blood transfusion. We can have a full assessment only after she comes out of the ventilator,” the hospital said.
The child is admitted in the paediatric intensive care of the hospital. She had been assaulted by her father and had cigarette burn marks and a dislocated neck when admitted to the hospital.
Doctors said it could take up to three weeks for the child to recover.
