Accidental firing kills Jawan in J&K's Poonch district
An army jawan died on Tuesday allegedly after his service rifle went off accidentally in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Jammu: An army jawan died on Tuesday allegedly after his service rifle went off accidentally in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The jawan identified as Anil Kumar, who was posted in Mehndar Tehsil of the district, was seriously injured when his service rifle went off accidentally, a police officer said.
He said that the jawan, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was rushed to the hospital but he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
He said that the police has registered a case and started investigations into the incident.
Case pertains to the arrest of three accused -- Zubair, Saifulla alias Saifu Khan and Altamash Khan -- and seizure of explosives and other IED making material on 30 March at Wonder Chauraha in Chittorgarh's Nimbahera
The accused were caught from the forest of Mahuapani Hathi Ghat, where they were distributing the meat among themselves after killing a calf on Friday night
