18 foot tunnel discovered in Sabarmati jail housing terror suspects

An 18 foot tunnel has been discovered inside the Sabarmati high security jail, which lodges a number of terror suspects, including 14 accused in the Ahmedabad serial blasts.

Officials told CNN-IBN that the tunnel was being dug for the past five to six months.

"Police are investigating the tunnel. We can't name the accused as its a legal matter", said PC Thakur,DG, Sabarmati Jail to media, adding that the tunnel had been discovered after officials Police found "a suspicious pigeon trap" in a yard. He said that tools had also been found near the tunnel.

Further details were not immediately available.
